The sun was already down, and the temperature had dropped a few degrees, but Alison was still out. Things were racing through her mind, and most of these things weren't topics that she really wanted to talk or think about. But still they races, and still she walked. She had planned on working out, so she was wearing grey sweat pants, a white tank top, and sneakers. Her hair was held up at the sides of her head, in long loose braids. Her feet scraped along the sand, and she looked out at the water that reflected the sun.
A salty sea-water smell hung in the air as she walked. A couple weeks here at this new school and still she hadn't met anyone, she felt like a loner, but i guess she had always been that. People usually freaked because of her multi-color hair or her shocking thinness, but she had learned to get over it. Even if it was hard. Her dad was the same way as other people, he didn't care if she was his daughter, she was different and he didn't like that, and she had learned not to care. Suddenly, wind blew her long bangs into her eyes and she didn't care, they were about to be out of her line of view.
One, Two, Three...... she took off. She was running down the shore line at such a speed, it would make any track star jealous. Her feet hammered on the sand, and her heart hammered in her chest. Her mind went blank, and she smiled at that familiar catch she got in her ankle. Her bangs flew out of her eyes, and she ran until she could run no more. She had started at the dock, and within in five minutes it was far off in the distance. Soon, she began to feel faint and she had to stop. Her hands came to rest on her knees, and her breath was labored. Soon she was sitting on the ground gazing off to the moon, reflected on the water, and in tears.

Gabriella's mind had been spinning for the past couple of days. Moving to a new town, new school, new people..she didn't have a chance to actually clear her mind and process it. A bit frustrated, she decided on a late night jog.
And half an hour later, in sweatpants, a white tank top, and a white see-through tee shirt over, she was on one end of the beach, setting her iPod. Jogging with music was more fun. This way, she felt like she was in her own world, and nothing else mattered. She swept her hair up in a loose pony, and took off jogging.
She kept on going, pacing herself, and jogging in step with the music. A while later, she heard some sniffling. It sounded like crying. Gabi turned off her iPod, and walked towards the sound. It was a bit freaky actually. Soon, she could make out a girl on the beach, right on the shoreline. She walked over to her, being careful not to scare her. "Um...are you okay?" She said with a worried face.

Like always, Tanner found himself alone somewhere. New school meant new people, which he really wasn't too fond of. New people were always the worst, bitter and backstabbing. They thought just because he was new, they could use it to their advantage. He wasn't stupid, though. He had never been stupid. But he knew in time, he'd have his group of friends just like he always does. They'd learn to think he was an amazing person, just like they always do. None of it was true, Tanner hated being so well known sometimes. What he needed was love, which most girls weren't ready to give.
It was a hot summer night, but the sand was so cool on his bare feet. He peeled his shirt over his head, revealing the back-covering tattoo; the lyrics to Firefly, a song about a fake person who tries to fit in. His brown t-shirt was srunched in a ball in his right hand. He continued walking, passing by thousands of shells and rocks spread on the floor. Some poked his feet, but he took no notice to them. It was too dark to notice any pain.
Out of no where, right in front of him, was a tenage girl about his age with amazingly dyed hair and a small body. She was hunched over and it sounded like she was sobbing. Someone was already standing there, asking her if she was okay. Obviously, they didn't know eachother because the girl had stopped. They were a couple of yards away, but he could see them both clearly in the moonlight from the full moon. He stood there, not knowing whether to just pass or stop and help. The girl with the cool hair could be hurt for all he knew. So, he decided to stand and watch what happened. If they needed his help, they could ask.

More tears. Stupid tears. How pathetic she was, sitting there on the beach, crying her eyes out. Thank goodness she wore waterproof mascara and eyeliner, or she would look even worse. Quickly she brushed her tears off her face, and willed herself to stop. She then heard a voice and she looked up so see a tall girl with honey blond hair in a loose pony tail and sweat pants. Sure she looked nice, and she was asking what was wrong, but Alison just couldn't tell her.
"Um, yeah I'm fine, runny nose, kinda gross," she lied with a smile on her face, "Thanks for asking." Her bangs once again fell over her eyes, and she blew it off to the side. What to say now, wow she hated awkward pauses, they freaked her out, almost as much at the water, even though she liked to watch it, she hated swimming in it.
ooc; very sucky post, sorry, just got back from admissions test argh

Tanner just stared wide eyed as the girl with the crazy hair said that her nose was just running. It didn't look like her nose was just running from where Tanner was standing, especially in the position she was in...because it's completely normal to be on your knees and make sobbing noises to wipe a runny nose. But, then again, there were some strange people in this world with strange habbits.
Tanner shook his head, still not knowing whether to walk or not. He was leaning on continuing to walk, so he finally gave in. He began to move his feet and he watched as the two girls got closer and closer until he almost passed them. Up close, he could definitely see red in the girl's eyes. She was definitely crying and Tanner felt such pitty for her. He gave her a small, hopeful smile and finally passed them, not sure where to go next.

Alison looked up from the girls face and say a boy walking past and say the pity in his eyes. Pity. Something she didn't need, but his smile was hopeful, she didn't care. "Hey look my names Alison, but um i have to go i hate to be rude." And with that she was off running. Running as far away from everyone as she could. She stopped and put in her ipod and blasted HIM. Feet pounding, heard racing, music blasting.
Pity made her furious, and she wanted to get out of there before she said something she didn't mean or anything, to people she hardly knows. So she ran, ran somewhere, anywhere, and soon she was gone from the mind, racing up the shoreline. Water licked at her feet, and her hair was bellowing behind her.
ooc; sorry um yeah sucky.......

Tanner continued to walk, dragging his feet through the smooth, cool sand. He was sure he had heard the girl with the multi-colored hair say something, but she was probably talking to the other one. It wasn't any of his business, anyway. The sand on all the other beaches he went to were rough and covered with garbage, but here it was like walking on silk. It was absolutey marvelous on his toes, a feeling he didn't want to stop. He smiled to himself, staring down as he let his feet move through the sand. The powder fell through the cracks of his toes and off the side of his feet everytime he lifted it up and soon, it grew very entertaining for him to watch.
That's when the girl with the extraordinary hair ran by him. She looked furious and Tanner began to think he had something to do with it. He always made the wrong decisions in his life, even stupid little things like these. But, for all he knew, she could've been crying from happiness and now she was running off to tell the news. He had no idea.
"Hey!" he called, hoping she'd hear him with the iPod in her ears. "Wait!" He began to run, too, wanting to appologize for staring at her. He knew that if he was in her position and somone walked by and just stared at him with a stupid little smile, he'd feel like the biggest idiot ever. Of course, him being the one to give the stupid little smile, he felt even lamer.

The sand kicked up every time one foot hit the ground, sending a rhythmic spray, that would be entertaining if she wasn't so pissed. Why did pity have to piss her off so much, probably because she had been receiving it all of her life. Sweat was now beading on her brow, and she ran faster, exercising always calmed her down, she did it compulsively, it was a secret addiction. Her eyes shifter over to the water to see if it was close to her feet and instead got a reflection of, who she was calling, pity boy sense she didn't know his name.
Her mind raced faster, he was running after her, shouting after her, what was she suppose to do. Stop. Run faster. Stop. Run faster. Her mind was conflicted, he had smiled at her, but he also had pity showing broadly in his eyes. It might not have been pity for your situation but for his own, yes and Tom Cruise is your long lost uncle. Finally she made up her mind, she would give him a chance, first she slowed then she stopped. Slowly she turned to face him.
''What, do I know you?" The words had a hint of sarcasm and a hint of anger, but thats how she was feeling now, and he had stopped her from her calming run, and he didn't even know her, what gave him the right?

Tanner scowled at her bitter voice. She obviously wasn't too happy to see him and suddenly, he didn't want to appoligize for anything. Of course, he couldn't have just stopped her and then say "oh, never mind", but honestly, why should he appoligize if she's going to be like that? "No," he snapped back at her. "We actually don't know eachother. And I was stopping you because I wanted to appologize about before for just staring at you for absolutely no reason, but odviously you don't like me too much, so never mind," He was surpised by his own bitter tone, but that voice she'd used towards him was pointless and extremely rude.
Out of no where, he started to feel bad again. Here he was, snarling at some girl who had probably just been crying her eyes out for some reason because she had been a little bitter. He couldn't blame her for being bitter, he had walked by and stared at her. Now, he couldn't just take what he said back, he would look like a complete lunitic. So, he did what any person in his position would do, he just looked down and shuffled his feet in the sand. "But yeah, sorry," he mumbled, still sounding a little bitter. It was better and it didn't sound like his mood had just had a crazy flip.

With each passing word that he flung out of his mouth, her anger increased, why did she stop anyways. She felt like hitting something, but contained her anger, for now. Instead she looked out over the sea, the waves disfiguring the reflection, and for a second she was sure she was going to start crying again. What gave him the right, to be scolding her like her farther, why was even talking to her, if he was just going to be a mean, idiot? But was it really his fault that she was crying earlier, did she have to bite his head off? The answer was no, no she didn't.
"Look i'm sorry for snapping at you okay," she said looking down at the sand. She felt bad now, why had she just snapped, she was usually so calm, so composed, she didn't just snap at any given moment, that would being losing control, and Alison didn't lose control, ever. The waves licked at her feet again and she jumped back, she didn't mind running through it, but standing was a whole other parallel, if she stood there it could sweep her away, and make her swim, or she would die.

It was a giant circle of changing emotions and the girl had just completed it. Tanner was taken back, shocked by her reaction to his own bitterness. Knowing most bratty girls, they'd just start screaming at him and call him an insensative jerk, but she...she actually recieved his appology and completely turned the direction from bitterness to apology. She was different from most of the girls he had seen so far and personally, he liked meeting someone that was actually unique. "I-It's fine," he said, staring directly at her with wide, curious eyes. "And I'm sorry for doing the same."
It was quiet on that cool, summer night on the long beach. The two teenagers stood there in silence, just staring at eachother. Tanner was trying to figure this girl out, hoping to find out what exactly was going on in her mind. The waves crashed at their feet, creating what seemed to be the only sound in miled. It was cold, but Tanner felt glued to the sand. "I don't know what comes over me sometimes," he finally said, giving her another soft, hopeful smile. It was different from the first time. This time, it was for hope that she would forgive him and he would forgive her and everything would be good between them, even if they really didn't know each other.

She should of snapped at him, she would snap at anyone else, but for some reason, she just didn't want to, it wasn't worth the work, or world wind of emotions that would come over her, so she just didn't bother. Things were so out of control tonight for her, and she didn't like that feeling, control, was another of her addictions. When she looked at his face, she saw something there, he was different, not self absorbed, or arrogant, like most boys she had met here, that wouldn't have given her a second glance.
The silence between the two was deafening to Alison, she hated the quiet, it was always to loud. Her arms wrapped around herself as a breeze blew lightly, with the wave crashing. "Its my fault i had no right to snap at you before," she said sincerely with a small smile on her lips. He smiled again, and it made her want to smile, contagious, thats what his smile was. A chill after the wind died slowly down, hung in the air, and once again her hair fell into her line of vision, and she blew it off to the side. She breathed, and she caught the sickly sweet smell of the salty air, and she looked back at him.

Tanner's smile grew larger and larger until his mouth seemed to invade his entire face. "Honestly, don't worry about it," Tanner closed his eyes and tiled his head back, that goofy smile still on his face. "I shouldn't have reacted the way that I did." He let his head fall upright again just so he could stare at her. She was absolutely beautiful, even the way she looked was unique. She wasn't the stunning blond with the blue eyes and the crisp tan as so many of the girls here were. She had her own beauty, a higher beauty, the beauty of an individual that swept Tanner's heart away.
Tanner began to wonder if all the talk to "love at first sight" was actually true, when you felt like eternity had passed by with only a glance into their eyes. There was nothing around them any more, nothing else seemed important for that second as he gazed into her deep, brown eyes. Even when the cool waves tapped his feet, trying to break him from his new sanctuary, Tanner's eyes were locked just on hers.
Realizing that he was just staring like an idiot, he blushed and looked away. The sudden urge to shrink away over powered him, but at the same time he didn't want to leave at all. He felt foolish and dumb for having thought of any such thing as 'love at first sight'. She was just another gorgeous girl who'd wind up breaking his heart. He didn't want that to happen, though. Her mystery became his greatest wonder and he had to unlock it. "I'm Tanner, by the way," he muttered, sharply shifting his eyes back to hers.

As he smiled, the over whelping feeling to smile coursed through her, and her lips disobeyed her brain and smiled brighter. "Okay only if you forget about me snapping at you earlier." He was staring at her and she was trying oh so very hard not to blush like an idiot. As she looked at him, she saw that he was rather cute, sharp features, and eyes that she just wanted to stare into, What am i thinking, her thoughts were flittering to that stupid phrase love at first sight. She didn't do love.
She wasn't some sort of girl that didn't like guys, and hated love, she was just hurt so many times she stopped believing in it. She had fallen in love and had always gotten hurt, she wasn't going to get hurt again. She ringed her fingers out, and stared at her shoes for a few moments as she tried to gather her thoughts, which were scattered all over the place. A few more seconds ticked by, with silence being the only loud sound to feel her ears.
Realizing that she was thinking about him and she had only just met him and didn't even know his name, caused her to blush a deep scarlet. When she was sure the color had died down she looked up to meet his eyes, There's no such thing as love at first sight she thought. He said his name, Tanner. "My name is Alison" she said with a small smile looking at him.

"Allison," Tanner repeated her name, it was such a beautiful name. He began to wonder if she had a perfect last name to match Allison. It was a silly thing to wonder, but at that moment Tanner was thinking way too much to tell the difference between foolish and sane thoughts. His thoughts became a blurr, all he could think about was that present moment. This was unusual, his normal thoughts contained what would happen if he said somthing or didn't say something, why the person had said that and it all blended together, which made him say the wrong thing. But at that point, Tanner knew he couldn't make a mistake.
"It's a pretty name," he smiled, feeling his cheeks tingle in the excitment and turn pink. Not knowing what else to say, he shut his lips tightly, hoping she'd have something clever to say. She seemed intelligant enough and soon Tanner felt he didn't have to worry what came out of her mouth. All her words were beautiful, just like her.
