Derek jogged along one of the many paths that surrounded the school's courtyard, his German shephard, Coda, along side him. For today's jog, Derek was wearing a white wife beater and navy and light blue jersey, long shorts with a pair of Nike air athletic shoes. He smiled as he glanced down at his pooch, glad that Coda looked like he was enjoying the exercise just as much as he was. He brought the jog to a walk and then to a stop, giving Coda some time to rest his little legs. He grabbed his silver Sidekick 3 from his gym short pocket and quickly checked the clock. "Damn, 6:30 already?" he stared, slightly surpised at the clocks reading. He looked around and saw that the sun was slightly setting over the crystal waters of the campus' beach.
He smiled as he took in the view, glad that he had came here after all. "Even though it was a pain in the ass getting here." The thought made Derek chuckle lightly to himself and rub the nape of his neck. He popped open the bottle of water he had brought along for him and Coda. He signaled Coda to come get some water and he poured some into his hand for Coda to drink from. After Coda had had his serving of slups, he dried his hand off on his shorts and took a few drinks himself. He sat there for a few minutes, stroking Coda on his back as Coda played with a few longer pieces of grass that were sticking up in the lawn beside them.

Bridget was anxious to get out of the dorm, she had nothing to do all day. Even though she was a soccer player, Bridget really never ran. She used to all the time when she was younger, but never really got around to it. Luckily, when she called Nate, his dog Malibu needed a serious run. Bridget was only too happy to take the dog out for a run. It was a pretty nice evening, so Bridget put her hair into a loose ponytail and put on her old spandex shorts and an old soccer camp tee shirt. She grabbed her hot pink iPod and leashed up Malibu. "C'mon puppy, lets go for a nice run." The dog just panted, looking content as they rode the elevator down. She stepped out and said hello to the few people on the ground floor. Not sure where to go, she went to the map and decided to go to a place she's never really visited.
Slowly starting to pick up speed, she felt her muscles go into freeze mode. She hadn't really run just for the fun of it in a couple of years, and her muscles weren't sure how to react. Once she got into a rhythm, they relaxed. Malibu, who hadn't really gotten exercise because Nate liked to surf, was panting like it was an extremely fat guy on a treadmill. After about five minutes of not seeing anyone, she slowed to walk and grabbed her hot pink Sidekick 3 and check the time. When she looked up, she saw an extremely cute guy running with his dog. Wow, I wish he could be my running partner.

Derek rustled a leaf and Coda pounced on it, making Derek laugh. "Okay, come on, buddy. We have to continue our walk." he said, standind up and patting Coda on the head. Coda hesitated, but walked back onto the side-walk, still wanting to play. "Sorry, bud. Maybe next time." he said, feeling a little bad. He turned around to go back to the dorms and a brunette caught his eye. 'A tall, tan, cute blonde with a hot body.' he corrected himself in his thoughts, a smile crawling across his lips.
"Well, the games might not be over for today, boy." he said under his beath with a chuckle. He jogged over to the girl, his smile growing wider as he approached her. "Hey, sorry to bother you, but I saw you when I was taking a jog and it looked like you were too. Coda and I get lonely sometimes and I was wondering if you'd like to take a jog with us sometime?" he asked smoothly, glancing down at Coda who was sitting with a wagging tail. He looked back up at her with a smile, patting Coda's little head.

Bridget was just thinking about the cute guy when all the sudden, he made a move toward her. She didn't even have time to react before he was right next to her. He said something about taking a walk with him, but Bridget was just to lost in the color of his eyes. Man, he is a cutie. Did he just say something about taking a walk. With me!? Wait, I better respond before he thinks I'm a freak. Take a deep breath and talk. She did as she thought, and took a deep breath, calming herself as she did. "Hey, I'm Bridget. Your dog is a cutie. Malibu does get lonely sometimes too, but he isn't my dog. But I wouldn't mind walking with you anyways." She blushed as she said the last line, just making it up as she was going. Smooth one, maybe this one will want to stick around..
Malibu was whining because no one was paying attention to him, so Bridget scooped down to pick up him and started to let him chew on her fingers. "So, my potential new jogging buddy, can you give me the pleasure of knowing your name, or do I have to work for it?" She raised her eyebrow at this, wanting to be mysterious. She slowly started to walk, hoping this guy would walk along side her. She turned to him, waiting for his answer.

Derek grinned as Bridget blushed; he thought it was cute when girl's blushed because of him. When Bridget picked Mailbu up, he rubbed his head. Coda quickly got jealous and started pawing Derek's leg with a soft whine, wagging his tail slower. "Fine fine. You pampered pooch." Derek laughed, his southern drawl getting more noticeable as he talked more and more; he picked Coda up as well, putting his front paws over his shoulder so Coda could see everything around them. He slowly started to walk beside her, smirking slightly as he heard her last line. 'Work for it, huh? Heh.' he thought, thinking of something smartassy to say. "What kind of a guy would I be if I made you work for it?" he said innocently with a laugh.
"I'm Derek. Derek Nelson." he introduced himself, feeling comfortable enough to talk in his light accent. He smiled at her and rubbed Coda's back as Coda's eyes searched for something interesting to watch. "What sports do you do?" he asked before there was an akward silence; which he hated. 'With that bangin' body she has to work out somehow..'

Bridget laughed when he made the comment about his dog. "Thats funny, because Malibu here is the same way. If you aren't petting him, he whines like crazy until you actually do. I guess all dogs are spoiled little puppies." She laughed again and put Malibu down. She started to walk, indicating that they should talk and walk. He surprised her when he asked about sports, because not many guys noticed that she did in fact work out, they were just thinking about getting into her pants to notice that. "Ha, thats funny you asked. I play soccer and I surf. My mom taught me how to surf and I got my brother into playing soccer with me. I love soccer. That's the reason I'm running out here today." She looked down, embarrassed that she was just blabbing on.
"So what about you? You have to play something, you don't look so bad yourself." She teased, not believing how flirty she was being. Maybe its the new school where no one knows who I am, but I'm sure having fun with this guy. She slowly started to walk down the path again, waiting for his answer. Malibu was so curious about everything, he was taking his own sweet time to sniff every blade of grass, so Bridget didn't really go far when she walked. She gave Malibu's leash a little tug while she turned to Derek.

Derek chuckled as she listed the sports she did and why she did them. He smiled, impressed that she could surf. "Heh, I couldn't surf if my life depended on it." he said when she paused, patting Coda's head since now, he was whining to get down. "Fine fine. You little copy-dog." he laughed, setting Coda down infront of him. He walked beside Bridget and smiled, a cool breeze picking up.
"I do football. And that's pretty much it. My dad was my coach when I was little, so I didn't get much of a chance to join any other sports." he replied with a confessing sigh. "I'm the quarterback of the team. You should come see me play sometime." he suggested, looking down at Coda and Malibu. Coda was currently pawing Malibu, trying to get him to play with him. He lightly laughed at the two of them as he waited for Bridgets reply, walking along the path with the most view of the classic courtyard. He then looked over at Bridget, smiling still.

Bridget wasn't shocked to hear that he played football. Well, let me tell you. You deffinetly have the body of a hot football player. She looked over at Derek and checked out his side profile. "Well, I personally think that you would be great at surfing. You have a strong stance and I'd love to show you sometime." She laughed as Coda and Malibu seemed to be hitting it off. Hey, if the dogs liked each other, that would give me another reason to see him again. I believe that this is going to be very interesting... She was surprised that Derek invited to a football game. "That would be pretty cool. That kind of sucks that you never got to learn about any other sports. If I come to your football game, you have to come to one of my famous soccer games. Be prepared to be blown away." She knew that she was bragging, but she liked it.
"So, where did you come from before you arrived here at Westview? I came from another school in California, but I had to leave there." She hoped that she wasn't saying to much, because lately she's been babbling. I probably look like an idiot babbling like this, but oh well. There isn't anything I can do about it now. I wonder what his history was about? Bridget, noticing that she was staring off into blank space, snapped out of her trance to listen to Derek's answer.
